"...Patrice Williamson...flies over her songs with a strong sense of swing. Her voice is prone to gospel and blues inflections. Her treatment of standards like 'Blue Skies' and 'If You Could See Me Now' is warm and dramatic with head-turning piano spots from Helen Sung. Carmen Lundy's 'Perfect Stranger' is a sexy modern blues featuring bright trumpet from Phil Grenadier, and Bud Powell's 'Wail' is a high-flying showcase for Williamson to open up and show her melodic scatting skills. There's a lot of promise in this CD. Williamson seems to have a definite future in Jazz singing."
